Ben Learns About Bedtime - Chapter 9: The Seasons' Secrets

Listen to the Story
The morning sun sparkled through the forest trees as Ben stretched his little paws and yawned. He remembered last night's wonderful adventure learning about the stars and moon with Aly the owl. Today felt like another perfect day for discovering something new!
Ben trotted through the forest, his fluffy tail swishing behind him. The birds were singing cheerful songs, and colorful flowers dotted the ground. "I wonder why there are so many pretty flowers right now," Ben thought aloud.
Just then, he heard a familiar voice from above. "Good morning, little fox!" It was Aly the owl, perched on her favorite oak tree branch.
"Aly!" Ben called excitedly. "I was hoping to see you! I have so many questions today."
Aly's wise eyes twinkled. "I love your curious mind, Ben. What would you like to know?"
Ben sat down beneath the tree. "Why are there so many flowers in spring? And why does summer feel so hot? Why do the trees change colors in autumn? And why does snow cover everything in winter?"
Aly hooted softly and flew down to a lower branch. "Those are wonderful questions! Let me tell you about the four seasons."
"In spring," Aly explained, "the world wakes up after winter's sleep. The sun grows warmer, and the rain helps flowers bloom everywhere. It's nature's way of celebrating new beginnings!"
Ben's eyes widened. "Like how I wake up after a good night's sleep?"
"Exactly!" Aly smiled. "Then comes summer, when the sun is closest to our part of the world. The sun's warm rays make everything hot, helping fruits grow and giving us long, bright days to play."
"That's why I can play outside longer in summer!" Ben exclaimed.
Aly nodded. "Very smart! In autumn, the trees prepare for winter rest. They stop making food, so their leaves change from green to beautiful reds, oranges, and yellows before falling down."
"They're getting ready for bed, like me at night!" Ben connected.
"Yes!" Aly hooted proudly. "And in winter, snow covers the ground like a soft, white blanket. It keeps the earth warm underneath while animals and plants rest. The snow is made of tiny ice crystals that fall from clouds."
Ben jumped up excitedly. "I can't wait to tell Leo and my friends all about this! They'll love learning about the seasons!"
"Remember, Ben," Aly said warmly, "just like you learned about the stars last night, learning something new every day makes you wiser and helps you understand the beautiful world around you."
Ben hugged Aly's wing. "Thank you, Aly! You're the best teacher ever!"
As Ben scampered home, he practiced what he would tell his brother. "Leo! Wait until you hear about the seasons!" he called as he spotted his brother playing near their den.
Leo ran over eagerly. "What did you learn today, Ben?"
Ben shared everything Aly had taught him, his voice full of excitement. Soon, other young animals gathered around to listen. Everyone loved learning about why spring brings flowers, summer brings warmth, autumn brings colorful leaves, and winter brings snow.
That evening, as Ben settled into his cozy bed, he smiled. Learning about the night sky yesterday and the seasons today made him feel so happy. He couldn't wait to see what tomorrow would bring.
"Learning something new every day is wonderful," Ben whispered before drifting off to sleep, already dreaming about his next adventure with Aly.
